Energy Initiative

NWFPA has embarked on a major effort to address energy issues in the food processing industry, including:

Working under contract to the Oregon Department of Energy on a project funded by the US Department of Energy to (1) assess its members needs and use of energy efficiency, conservation, productivity, and renewable resources; (2) design and implement an information portal that addresses these needs; and develop a transferable fact-finding and service model for other industry associations.

Partnering with the California League of Food Processors, Del Monte Foods, state energy offices in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, US Department of Energy, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on a State Technologies Advancement Collaborative proposal for a $730,000 grant from National Association of States Energy Officials.  This project will substantially improve the energy and water use efficiency of food processors in the Western States and will result in measurable energy savings and emissions reductions.
