March Luncheon with SalesForce.com and Microsoft

Beyond the Hype of Web 2.0: A Real-world Look at Recruiting with Social Media and Mobile Technology

Social media and new technologies have become critical to recruiting and candidate lead generation strategies. These tools enable the immediate, relevant interaction that is essential to building one-to-one candidate relationships. More than three billion subscribers use mobile devices. Text message traffic recently surpassed that of traditional voice calls in the U.S. The majority of your candidates carry a mobile device everywhere they go, and it is most likely their preferred means of communication. How do you make mobile technologies and social media tools an effective part of your recruiting effort?

In this session, we’ll shed light on mobile technologies and Web 2.0 recruiting through insight from two leaders in the business: Salesforce.com and Microsoft. Scott and Mike demonstrate how Salesforce.com is taking advantage of recruit2mobile and the mobile platform to extend its brand and increase its pipeline of candidates. Marvin Smith of Microsoft Entertainment & Devices will share insight from his organization’s experience in building the Talent Community initiative within Microsoft's Entertainment & Devices (E&D) Division ($8.5B & 10,000 employees). He will be joined by Jobs2Web, a Minneapolis-based firm that developed the technologies utilized to launch the talent community.

He's worked with some of the largest employers in the world to help build competitive workforces including Allianz, Adobe, BP, California Pizza Kitchen, Disney, Electronic Arts, Kaiser-Permanente, Microsoft, Plantronics and Thomson/Reuters. He's held various senior management roles throughout his tenure in the industry at Authoria, Hire.com, Bernard Hodes Group (an Omnicom agency) and DS&E (now TMP Worldwide).

MultiCare: Career Sites and Best Practices

Talent shortages are nothing new in healthcare. We're all competing for the same limited pool of candidates. So why do our recruitment websites all look pretty much the same? If your website is awful - or even just average - this practical workshop is not to be missed. In this session, you will learn:

- Employment branding basics

- Website best practices

- Project and vendor management tips

- Strategies to avoid going over budget

- Considerations when integrating with an applicant tracking system

Participants will learn how MultiCare overhauled its cluttered, confusing website to create a new, interactive online career center that:

- Celebrates diversity

- Supports employee career development

- Manages candidate expectations

- Reduces recruiter workloads

- Sets MultiCare apart from other healthcare employers

You'll be given a tool to evaluate their own recruiting website and be encouraged to find at least three easy changes they can make to create a more candidate-friendly site.
